Cell Division in genus Corynebacterium: protein-protein interaction and molecular docking of SepF and FtsZ in the understanding of cytokinesis in pathogenic species Anais da ABC (AABC)
OLIVEIRA JR,ALBERTO F.; FOLADOR,EDSON L.; GOMIDE,ANNE C.P.; GOES-NETO,ARISTÓTELES; AZEVEDO,VASCO A.C.; WATTAM,ALICE R..
ABSTRACT The genus Corynebacterium includes species of great importance in medical, veterinary and biotechnological fields. The genus-specific families (PLfams) from PATRIC have been used to observe conserved proteins associated to all species. Our results showed a large number of conserved proteins that are associated with the cellular division process. Was not observe in our results other proteins like FtsA and ZapA that interact with FtsZ. Our findings point that SepF overlaps the function of this proteins explored by molecular docking, protein-protein interaction and sequence analysis. Transcriptomic analysis showed that these two (Sepf and FtsZ) proteins can be expressed in different conditions together. The work presents novelties on molecules...

Changes in growth variables and potassium content in leaves of Black Barley in response to NaCl Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Abu-Al-Basal,Mariam A.; Yasseen,Bassam T..
Much attention is being focused on the Black barley (Hordeum distichum L.) as a local cultivar offering good model for a cereal crop has traits of resistance to drought and salinity during vegetative growth stages. Although Black was sensitive to salt stress during germination, it developed gradual tolerance with age and proved very tolerant during growth and development stages. The data of study clearly revealed how this cultivar was superior over Arivat (Hordeum vulgare L.) in many physiological aspects such as leaf growth variables (i.e. rate and duration) and processes (i.e. cell division), tiller production and potassium content. Black barley had more tillers, faster rate and longer duration of growth processes which was accompanied with potassium...

Santos,Thaís da Cruz Alves dos; Cruz-Landim,Carminda da.
Both castes of Scaptotrigolia postica (Latreille, 1804) possess four ovarioles in each ovary. Queen and workers have the same ovarian development during the larvallife, but in lhe late larval stage the queen ovary beco me larger. During pupation a higher rate of cell division is observed in queen ovarioles and a higher rale of cell death in workers. Newly emerged workers have short ovarioles with differenriatcd germarium and vitellarium while queens have very long ovarioles with only germarium. Caste deterrnination in rhis species of bee is trophic, but lhe food does not differ in quality, only in quantiry. The food differences only beco me effecri ve by the end of larval stage when the queen larvae have lhe opportunity of eat more. In this way lhe ovary...

Differential gene expression and mitotic cell analysis of the drought tolerant soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill Fabales, Fabaceae) cultivar MG/BR46 (Conquista) under two water deficit induction systems Genet. Mol. Biol.
Martins,Polyana K.; Jordão,Berenice Q.; Yamanaka,Naoki; Farias,José R.B.; Beneventi,Magda A.; Binneck,Eliseu; Fuganti,Renata; Stolf,Renata; Nepomuceno,Alexandre L..
Drought cause serious yield losses in soybean (Glycine max), roots being the first plant organ to detect the water-stress signals triggering defense mechanisms. We used two drought induction systems to identify genes differentially expressed in the roots of the drought-tolerant soybean cultivar MG/BR46 (Conquista) and characterize their expression levels during water deficit. Soybean plants grown in nutrient solution hydroponically and in sand-pots were submitted to water stress and gene expression analysis was conducted using the differential display (DD) and real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques. Three differentially expressed mRNA transcripts showed homology to the Antirrhinum majus basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor bHLH, the...

Differential regulation of vitamin D receptor expression in distinct leukemic cell lines upon phorbol ester-induced growth arrest BJMBR
Folgueira,M.A.A.K.; Federico,M.H.H.; Roela,R.A.; Maistro,S.; Katayama,M.L.H.; Brentani,M.M..
A close correlation between vitamin D receptor (VDR) abundance and cell proliferation rate has been shown in NIH-3T3 fibroblasts, MCF-7 breast cancer and in HL-60 myeloblastic cells. We have now determined if this association occurs in other leukemic cell lines, U937 and K562, and if VDR content is related to c-myc expression, which is also linked to cell growth state. Upon phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) treatment, cells from the three lineages (HL-60, U937 and K562) differentiated and expressed specific surface antigens. All cell lines analyzed were growth inhibited by PMA and the doubling time was increased, mainly due to an increased fraction of cells in the G0/G1 phase, as determined by flow cytometry measurements of incorporated bromodeoxyuridine and...

Excavation of attractor modules for nasopharyngeal carcinoma via integrating systemic module inference with attract method BJMBR
Jiang,T.; Jiang,C.-Y.; Shu,J.-H.; Xu,Y.-J..
The molecular mechanism of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is poorly understood and effective therapeutic approaches are needed. This research aimed to excavate the attractor modules involved in the progression of NPC and provide further understanding of the underlying mechanism of NPC. Based on the gene expression data of NPC, two specific protein-protein interaction networks for NPC and control conditions were re-weighted using Pearson correlation coefficient. Then, a systematic tracking of candidate modules was conducted on the re-weighted networks via cliques algorithm, and a total of 19 and 38 modules were separately identified from NPC and control networks, respectively. Among them, 8 pairs of modules with similar gene composition were selected, and 2...

Genes involved in cell division in mycoplasmas Genet. Mol. Biol.
Alarcón,Frank; Vasconcelos,Ana Tereza Ribeiro de; Yim,Lucia; Zaha,Arnaldo.
Bacterial cell division has been studied mainly in model systems such as Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, where it is described as a complex process with the participation of a group of proteins which assemble into a multiprotein complex called the septal ring. Mycoplasmas are cell wall-less bacteria presenting a reduced genome. Thus, it was important to compare their genomes to analyze putative genes involved in cell division processes. The division and cell wall (dcw) cluster, which in E. coli and B. subtilis is composed of 16 and 17 genes, respectively, is represented by only three to four genes in mycoplasmas. Even the most conserved protein, FtsZ, is not present in all mycoplasma genomes analyzed so far. A model for the FtsZ protein from...

Heparan sulfate and cell division BJMBR
Porcionatto,M.A.; Nader,H.B.; Dietrich,C.P..
Heparan sulfate is a component of vertebrate and invertebrate tissues which appears during the cytodifferentiation stage of embryonic development. Its structure varies according to the tissue and species of origin and is modified during neoplastic transformation. Several lines of experimental evidence suggest that heparan sulfate plays a role in cellular recognition, cellular adhesion and growth control. Heparan sulfate can participate in the process of cell division in two distinct ways, either as a positive or negative modulator of cellular proliferation, or as a response to a mitogenic stimulus.

In vitro callogenesis induction of Guarianthe skinneri (Bateman) Dressler & W.E. Higgins (Orchidaceae) Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Coutiño-Cortés,Ana Gabriela; Bertolini,Vincenzo; Iracheta-Donjuan,Leobardo; Ruíz-Montoya,Lorena; Valle-Mora,Javier Francisco.
Abstract: Guarianthe skinneri (Bateman) Dressler & W.E. Higgins, is a native orchid from Mexico, considered as threatened species in the NOM-ECOL-059-SEMARNAT-2010, mainly due to the disappearance of its natural habitat and illegal collection during the flowering season. The aim of this research was to induce in vitro callogenesis using different types of explants and phytoregulators, in order to establish a mass production technique as a contribution to the conservation of this species. We evaluated leaf and pseudobulb pith explants growing in semi-solid medium MS, adding BAP, 2, 4-D, Kin, the combination of BAP/2 and 4-D/Kin/Sad and a control without any type of plant growth regulators. Statistical analysis showed that pseudobulb pith explants are...

Influence de l'azote et du phosphore sur la croissance et la toxicité de Prorocentrum lima (Ehrenberg) Dodge ArchiMer
Morlaix, Martine; Lassus, Patrick.
Very few attempts have been made in order to investigate the role of nutrients on cellular growth and toxin production in dinoflagellates associated with DSP (Diarrhetic Shellfish Poison). Some preliminary results are presented here, aiming at a better knowledge of inorganic nitrogen and organic phosphorus effects upon division rate and toxin content of Prorocentrum lima (PL2V spanish strain). Nitrogen have a positive effect on growth rate, up to a threshold value of 880muM.l-1. Above this threshold the rate decreases. There is no effect on toxin content since okadaic acid and DTX1 cell contents remain low (4.8 +/- 0.5 pg.cell.-1) and steady. Phosphorus effect upon division rate follows a non-linear relationship, whereas cellular toxic content is inversely...

Molecular evolution in bacteria: cell division Rev. Microbiol.
Trevors,J.T..
Molecular evolution in bacteria is examined with an emphasis on the self-assembly of cells capable of primitive division and growth during early molecular evolution. Also, the possibility that some type of encapsulation structure preceeded biochemical pathways and the assembly of genetic material is examined. These aspects will be considered from an evolutionary perspective.

Phytochrome-like responses in Euglena: a low fluence response that reorganizes the spectral dependence of the high irradiance response in long-day photoperiodic induction of cell division OAK
Bolige, Aoen; Goto, Ken.
Irradiance spectra change spatiotemporally, and angiosperms adapt accordingly, mainly through phytochromes. This study challenges the long-held belief that the flagellated alga Euglena gracilis lacks phytochromes and is therefore unaffected by spectral changes. We photoautotrophically cultured the alga under continuous light (LL), then transferred it to darkness. After about 26 h in darkness, different irradiations for 3 h enabled cell division in dark-arrested G2 cells evoking a high-irradiance response (HIR). The spectral characteristics of the irradiation during the LL period (pre-irradiation) defined the spectral sensitivity in the subsequent dark period. LL with light rich in the red spectrum led to a HIR to the red spectrum (R-HIR), whereas light...
